We’re Moving Again

Last July when the family flew out to San Diego to scout out  living arrangements, we only had one week to make it happen.  Meaning that we were at the mercy of Craigslist.  Complicating matters worse was that we needed to find a home where both Stoney (the dog) and Lovely (the cat) would be welcome.

By the end of that week we had found an (almost) ideal house to rent.  Ideal, because the house was well kept, had a nice yard (pet friendly), was close to an elementary school and in a decent neighborhood.  The negative drawback was that the house was small and only had two bedrooms.  Nevertheless, it was our best option so we decided to make it work and signed a short term  lease.

In many ways our current home has served us well.  Unfortunately, we just can’t get past the lack of space.  Each week we are reminded of this when we try to pack our community group into the living room.  I guess it’s one way to create a cozy and intimate environment.

Earlier in the month Adam and I started keeping an eye on Craigslist again.  Two weeks ago we came across a three bedroom home in a neighborhood about a half mile away from our present home.  We took a look and immediately fell in love with the extra space.  We start moving in on Sunday.

As with everything in life, there are positives and negatives to our new house.  The positives are that we will have more space (Megan and Paul can’t wait to have their own rooms again) and the neighborhood is slightly more family friendly.  Because we are moving nearby we aren’t changing much (same grocery stores, same restaurants, same way to get to work).  The negatives are that while the house is in great shape, the fixtures and appliances are from the wrong decade!  The other negative is that the kids will no longer be able to walk to school.  They have always attended the “neighborhood” school so I feel a little sad about moving out of the neighborhood.  I will miss the quick walk up the hill in the morning.  (There is a neighborhood school near our new house but we like our current school and have no intention of leaving.)

So there you have it.  We are becoming experts at this moving thing.  I’ll be sure to post pictures once we are settled.

I hate moving, but mostly the unpacking part of it. If I knew I was going somewhere with more space, though, I’d suck it up! I’m glad you are able to have more room to move around and you don’t have to sacrifice most of what you like. :)

Wow…thinking of you & praying everything goes smoothly. Moving is a lot of work…not fun, but it will be so nice to have extra “breathing room”.

Its hard to get pumped up for a move 6 mo after moving before… AND that its only like .5 miles from where we live. I need more motivation.

I hope the move is non-stressful and that you get “settled in” soon. I can’t wait to see photos of the new place!
