Last Thursday afternoon the kids and I made
homemade marshmallows. We turned them into Valentine treats by adding red food coloring, cutting them into heart shapes (with a cookie cutter) and adding red sugar sprinkles to the top. Delicious!

Our friend, Bryan makes us homemade marshmallows at Christmas time, but they are not nearly as pretty as yours!
Wow, you are so crafty (or whatever the equivalent word is for cooking)! I took one look at the recipe and deemed it way too much work and too messy. But your heart ones are precious!
Homemade marshmallows are easy to make. They don’t take a lot of time except that you you have to wait (overnight) for the end product. My kids and I enjoyed watching the gelatin mixture turn into a fluffy marshmallow. It was cool to see the kitchen chemistry in action.
NOTE TO READING AUDIENCE: Kristen always says “it’s easy.” Granted, a chemist couldn’t pull off half the stuff she makes and we’re basically chasing away The Food Network… but she insists everything is easy. Rachel Ray and Kristen McLane… both make their culinary perfection sound easy.
