Rock’n Mime

by Kristen McLane on December 16, 2008

Not to scare you or anything but this is the costume I wore to Adam’s staff Christmas party last Friday night.  The theme was black and white and the party was appropriately held at the Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park.  The staff has a long standing tradition of dressing in costume (no pressure here).  You have probably already guessed that the YS staff is slightly unconventional!  Adam’s entire department went as mimes.  Adam went as “Rock” mime (think KISS) and I went as “Punk” Mime.  I’m 32 and I can’t remember the last time I dressed up in costume.  It was a blast.  The best part is that people had to ask who Adam and were and we won 4th place in the costume contest.  Four days later I’m still shocked that I pulled it off.  In case you are wondering, this is the real me.

Kristen – that is hilarious! It doesn’t even look like you! Where was this WILD side in college? Haha. Did your kids see you like this…and what did they think?

Thank you for not taking me too seriously! The kids looked at Adam and I like we were crazy. They have seen him in a costume before but not me. I think we did manage to scare a few kids as we walked from the parking lot into the museum. Several people wanted to look but were afraid to make eye contact. All five of us from Adam’s department (and me) walked together. It was an “all or nothing” deal.
