Review: Sesame Street Building Set by Kid K’nex

My kids love Kid K’nex and so do I. We already own several building sets including Dino Pals, Undersea Pals and Zoomin’ Buddies. Many toys come and go in popularity but after two years these ones still hold a prominent position on our toy shelf.
Kid K’nex recently teamed up with Sesame Street Workshop to create a new line of Sesame Street Building Sets. Team Mom sent me an Elmo and his Piano set to review (Elmo just happens to be my favorite Sesame Street character). The Sesame Street building sets are designed for children ages 2-5 so I was surprised when Megan and Paul “tore the box open” and began playing. At five and seven they are much too sophisticated for Sesame Street - or so they like to tell me.
This is a great set. The pieces are similar to the original Kid K’nex except that they include several “lego” style building blocks which are easier for smaller hands to click together. The set also includes a few imaginative shapes that can be used to create Elmo as a fish, duck, dog or whatever. The Elmo and his Piano set comes with 47 pieces and retails for $21.99. Smaller sets start at $10.99 (14-15 pieces) and include all the favorite Sesame Street characters.
