Sporting Spooky Fall Tees

This past week I decided that the kids and I needed a fun fall project. Fall has always ranked the highest as my favorite season. For the past five years I was spoiled by living in the fertile apple orchard kingdom otherwise known as Romeo. Right about now I could really go a hot homemade apple donut washed down with freshly pressed cider from the mill! My point is that while it is officially fall in San Diego, it doesn’t feel like it yet.

This “to-dye-for” pumpkin t-shirt project from the October issue of Family Fun magazine was the next best thing to satisfy my fall cravings (at least for now). It was Megan and Paul’s first tie-dye experience and my first attempt in a long time. All we needed were t-shirts (on sale at Michaels for 5 for $10), orange dye, rubber bands and black permanent markers or black fabric paint. We made our t-shirts over the course of two days. The first day we dyed the shirts and the second day we painted.

The finished project:

I love this idea. I might have to due it with Ally and do it for Evan.

Megan’s shirt looks so professional! I love Paul’s - the more pumpkins the better! What a fun project to do with the kids. I love tie-dying, & I already have orange dye, but the kids never like to use it. Now I know what to use it for.
