It’s my second week of living in San Diego (or Sand Diego as Megan called it). Here are a few of my likes and dislikes thus far.
Likes
- Beaches
- Early morning walks (morning person + early daylight = happy Kristen)
- Gorgeous sunsets
- Pretty plants & flowers
- Laid-back SoCal attitude
- Warm days, cool nights
- Catching the ocean breeze on the front porch
- Ethnic restaurants & grocery items
- Friendly people
- Getting the mail at 10:30am instead of 3:30pm
- An abundance of Starbucks (reminds me of the scene from Shrek)
Dislikes
- Helicopters flying overhead (the news/police helicopter corridor is overhead)
- Early sunset (the darkness makes it feel later…but the beautiful sunsets make up for it)
- Job hunting
- Sprinklers that wake me up at 3am
- Dog poop on sidewalks (is it too hard to pick up after your dog?)
- Gas stations that scam
- Family & friends are too far away

Sounds like you’re getting aclimated – the sunny, beachy stuff sounds great to this “lost in a blanket of grey” Seattle dweller! Best wishes with the job hunt – what are you seeking?!
If you want Starbucks move up to Seattle we have 20 within 5 miles of my house- in the suburbs lol
I 100% agree with the last one on the dislikes.
I have always wanted to live in California – for many of the same reasons as your “likes” list. I love beautiful weather, but I agree it’s hard to be away from family. We currently do not live by family and I wish that we did. Although the beach does sound tempting.
