Laugh With Your Friends When They’re Happy
One of the first big chunks of Scripture that I memorized was Romans chapter 12. Yes, the entire chapter. In verse 15 Paul wrote, “Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.” I also like how the Message (a paraphrase) puts it, “Laugh with your happy friends when they’re happy; share tears when they’re down.”
I know a family that applies this verse literally. At dinnertime each family member has the opportunity to share one good thing and one bad thing that has happened to them that day. Here are mine from this week:
Rejoicing
- Peace about all that is involved with selling a house and moving
- Simple joys…like winning this (more about it on Monday)
- Paul is doing great in karate
- Megan got a B.U.G. award at school (she was caught “being unusually good”)
- One more week of school
- A couple nice morning runs
Mourning
- The earthquake and aftermath in China…makes me sad
- Paul got a killer black eye from bumping into a countertop (he is fine)
