Celebrating My Inner Child

5 Minutes for Mom is hosting another fun photo carnival & contest. It’s the Nestle “The Kid in You” Photo Contest. You know me too well - I couldn’t resist joining the party!

One of the fun things about being a mom is that my kids allow me to act out my inner child. Take this picture for example. Every fall Megan, Paul and I take time to savor the season. Before the the leaves get raked to the side of the road, they must be jumped into. We take our rules seriously. A grown woman jumping into a pile of leaves - weird. A grown woman jumping into a pile of leaves with her children - acceptable.

I love this picture because it was totally unrehearsed. Paul (4) was the photographer. Unbeknown to me Megan was crouching behind my back with a handful of leaves.  She dumped them over my head at the precise moment that Paul took the picture. In my mind this picture perfectly celebrates the balance between being a mom and participating in the pleasures of childhood.

Love it! We used to have tons of leaves and I miss jumping in them with my kids.

Kristen, thanks for stopping by my site today. I love your picture. I’ve been looking through a lot of the entries and I think yours is my favorite. :-)
