In just ten short days Megan will be seven! I’m usually well advanced into planning the party (anytime after Christmas is fair game for Megan to bring up the subject) but I’m behind this year. We haven’t even sent out party invitations – or picked a date.
The problem with picking a date is that Megan’s birthday is the day after Mother’s Day this year. We already have events scheduled on Friday and Saturday. And I feel uncomfortable asking moms to give up their children for a few hours on Sunday being that it is Mother’s Day. I suppose a weekday after school would be alright (Tuesday and Thursday are open). We are only inviting a few friends and most of them go to school with Megan.
The one thing that I do know is that it is going to be a Webkinz themed birthday party. So, any ideas? I’m going to design an invitation today. Something with a “Wheel of Wow” theme. I also know that I want to make a “Crown of Wonder” cake. I found these edible jewels and I might steal the idea for making cake gems. Another idea that I had is to have a gem hunt using these treasure stones filled with gems or treats.
I read a few other cute ideas while browsing the web. I need more inspiration. I want to hear your (fun and affordable) ideas too.

I put my little crazy girls down for a “nap” before the fireworks tonight and am having some fun blogging around…
My kiddos LOVE Webkinz. Here are a few party ideas off the top of my head. I hope these make sense, they’re patterned after my girls’ favorite things to do on the Webkinz site.
1) have each party goer bring their favorite webkinz (or you can have some available at your house). Let them do an obstacle course with the Webkinz (throw your kinz in the air three times, spin around, throw them through a hula hoop, run with them to a certain point, etc…you get the idea)
2) Let them earn pretend “KinzCash” (make/print some in photoshop) that they can use later to buy snacks or prizes of their choice. You could also just use the KinzCash for lunch. They can buy certain items off the “menu”.
3) instead of “pin the tail on the donkey”, make a Dr. Quack’s Clinic where they put the “band-aid” on the Webkinz. Just draw a large Webkinz on a posterboard with “Dr. Quack’s Clinic” written on it. Make a little “x” or draw a cast on one of the Webkinz paws or feet to indicate an injury. Give each child a band-aid and see who can get the closest.
4) Have a KinzPost station with cute cards, markers, etc., where the kids can write notes to the Birthday Girl.
5) Try to take a picture of your daughter opening each gift. For thank-you notes, use a 8.5” x 11” sheet of paper and write a “newspaper article” patterned after the newspaper on the webkinz site. The headline would read “_____ gets Fabulous Birthday Gift!!” and have a little thank you story below it: “____ was so excited to celebrate her birthday with all her friends and couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw____________ from______________!” You get the idea.
6) If this is an all-girl party, pick up some purses at the dollar store and let them decorate their own “carrier” for their Webkinz. This would be a fun/easy party favor.
Hope this helps, have fun!
Thanks for adding your ideas. The hit of the party was a “Wheel of Wow” that I created on poster board. I made an actual spinning wheel with prizes – something little for each girl to take home (lip gloss, etc). We also themed the party around Webkinz food. My kids particularly enjoyed the “Shirley Templekinz” party drink.
I lke the obstacle coarse idea! I made aWebkinz board game like snakes aned ladders where the kids use their webinz as game pieces . I will send you a picture of the game if you like.
Where can I print off Kinzs cash?
I’m not sure if there is a website to print KinzCash – you might have to make your own (photoshop).
