Stronger Than You Think

bookcover2.JPGThis Saturday I will be attending a women’s conference at Kensington Church. Stronger Than You Think: Becoming Whole Without Having to Be Perfect, a Woman’s Guide is the name of a book written by Dr. Kim Eckert who is also the conference speaker. Dr. Eckert is a clinical psychologist specializing in women’s issues and a professor of psychology and counseling at Lee University. I haven’t had the opportunity to hear Dr. Eckert speak nor am I familiar with her book however her topic (self-esteem and body image) couldn’t be more relevant.

The last conference that I attended was the Moody Conference for Women two years ago. Moody puts on an excellent conference but it is too far to go to every year. There is something special about retreating from the grind of daily life to worship and study Scripture with other women. It was thoughtful of a friend to invite me to attend the Stronger Than You Think conference with her. The secondary theme of the conference is Spiritual Spa. Trust me I didn’t have to think twice to accept my friend’s invitation to the conference!

The downside of the conference is that I will miss Paul and Megan’s soccer games. Megan only scores goals when I’m not there so my absence could be a good thing for her. Actually, I think that everyone scores from my being away. A happy mommy makes for a happy family.

So true…it’s essential for mommies to have time to “revitalize” and “reconnect” and “RELAX” to be better mommies. And there’s just something about being with other women (who have the gift of gab) that really fills us up & encourages us to keep going. Glad you got to get away and enjoy yourself.
