Congratulations to Amy, winner of Karen Kingsbury’s Let’s Go on a Mommy Date book. (Read my review here.)
I had fun reading the comments of everyone who entered the giveaway. We all agree that a mommy date doesn’t have to be extravagant. It can be any amount of quality time that you spend with your children.
I loved that some of you schedule regular “dates” with your children such as treating yourselves to Saturday morning donuts, lunch dates or hot cocoa parties at home. Some of you enter your child’s world (making crafts together or picnicing at the park) while others of you bring them into your world (a trip to the nail salon, sharing a hobby together like gardening or taking your child along for a jog in the jogging stroller). Visiting the library together and treating yourselves to ice cream were two of the most popular comments.
Want to do something special but short on ideas? If you live in or near a major city then you may want to check out GoCityKids. I’ve been happily subscribing to their newsletters for several years now. Every Thursday I get an e-mail listing of family friendly events in my geographical area. It’s a great place to promote community events too.
