Let’s Make A Joyful Noise (Book Giveaway)

Psalm 100:1
Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.

joyful_home.jpgKarma Wilson (author of the bestselling children’s book Bear Snores On) has written a beautiful new book based on Psalm 100. It is one in a series of Scripture based books. In Karma’s own words she writes:

The celebrating scripture series is a way for families to celebrate meaningful scripture with their children. Repeating lines, rhyme and rhythm help children to commit the verse (and the spirit of the verse) to their hearts and their minds in a fun, not preachy, way. It is my hope that families everywhere find these books helpful in teaching and enjoying scripture with children. (Excerpted from Author’s website)

Let’s Make a Joyful Noise: Celebrating Psalm 100 begins with a family on their way to church. A young boy is riding his bike followed by his family on foot. Along the way the boy experiences the joyful noises of birds, church bells, street musicians and more. It is absolutely impossible to read this book without having a smile on your face. The emotions build up page after page until you can almost feel that the boy is spilling over with joy and about to explode! The illustrations by Amy June Bates are gorgeous and really capture the emotion of the words. The boy ends church with a quiet prayer; a reminder that “a joyful noise” is less about noise and more about the volume of praise in our hearts.

Abbie was singing & making up songs before she could form sentences! Some of our favorite books have been ones that you sing instead of read. Phil’s mom has made several for the kids with Bible story songs. And we can always count on their Aunt Ellen (who has a PhD in Music) to give music books & instruments for Christmas gifts.

My girls and I love to dance and sing to music. It is really sweet when they try to sing along to some of my worship CDs!

Sounds like a wonderful book!

It DOES sound wonderful. My 4 yr old boy loves making everything musical. He even has these “football team songs” where he sings the names of pro football teams. I love it. And my 2-yr old is just finding her “voice”. She is really into the hokey pokey right now from this Veggie Tales cd we have. We’ll be anywhere, and she just busts it out. It takes me back to my “skating” days in the 80′s when we skated to that song. Thanks for the giveaway!

Our little 18-month-daughter likes to raise her hands in the air and sing, “Hosanna.” The Palm Sunday lesson really stuck! Thanks for the giveaway! ( meg.wilson@gmail.com )

I sing ALOT and I often hear my 2 1/2 year old daughter humming along. She also hums herself to sleep, which is so adorable. When I play my keyboard she has to run and get hers and play right along with me.

My little boy likes to listen to David Crowder!

26 Martha April 14, 2008 at 2:21 pm

As a grandma the most beautiful Joyful noise I hear is when my grandsons are dancing around entertaining their baby sister, 1 years old, and she is laughing at their antics. They are so proud they can make her giggle.

27 Dawn April 14, 2008 at 2:22 pm

My daughter just turned one and loves to ‘sing’ in church. Whenever the congregation sings she babbles right along with us, it’s so cute, she’s been doing it for months.
