What Does Fall Have To Do With Spring?

12.jpgWe have a tree that drops all it’s leaves in one day. It’s remarkable to watch. But not so fun to clean up. This picture is of our backyard one day prior to our first snow fall; the same day that all the leaves decided to fall (the green leaves in the foreground of the picture). I did my best to rake as many leaves as possible. Adam was out of town so he couldn’t help. Not to mention that Thanksgiving was just days away and I was busy preparing the house for guests. My point is that I did manage to remove a lot but not all of the leaves. During the winter (between snowfalls) I pushed the remaining leaves to the side of the yard.

So what does Fall have to do with Spring? It means that yesterday I spent the day gathering and burning the last of the leaves. The result is that the backyard is ready for spring and my daylilies can poke out of the ground (they were trying). Our next backyard project is to start a garden.

I am planning to start a garden too this year!! I am so excited! My friend and I are going to go to a place by her that sells plants so that we can skip the seed step. I can’t wait to have fresh tomatoes and other wonderful veggies right in my backyard. I might even buy a raspberry bush. Yeah for spring!

Have you used a leave blower for leave? I live in the woods, the amount of leaves we have is so great that within a couple of days it will kill the grass. My dad bought a leaf blower. It’s wonderful. We can clear the lawn in an hour or two (we have 2 acres).

We had a leaf blower but it broke after one season. We are back to the old fashioned way until we can afford another one.
