Lullabies are often the first stories that our children are exposed to as infants. As our children grow into toddlers and preschoolers they graduate to nursery rhymes complete with finger plays and body motions. As parents we love the familiarity of the tunes that we grew up with but we don’t always remember the important things…like the words! Maybe like me you’ve muddled through a tune of Frère Jacques making up your own French words along the way. Or perhaps your inquisitive mind has always pondered the definition of a tuffet.
To the rescue is Humpty Who?: Crib Sheets for the Nursery for Clueless Moms and Dads. Humpty Who? is a collection of 80 classic poems, songs, lullabies, rounds and riddles. What makes Humpty Who? unique from other nursery rhyme treasuries is the insightful commentary. One of my favorite discoveries was a recipe for pease porridge. As a bonus the book also comes with a 35-song CD.
Win It! Workman Publishing has generously offered one copy of Humpty Who? to giveaway. Enter by commenting with the name of your favorite lullaby or nursery rhyme. The giveaway will end at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25th. I will notify the winner via e-mail. Stay tuned this week for more giveaways.
Don’t forget to enter my Gallop!, Camp Out! and How Come? book giveaways.

Our favorite is Hush Little Baby
My favorite is Hush Little Baby, while my grandaughter prefers the rowdier I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly. I would love to win this, I get bored with singing the same old songs.
This little piggy went to market…
I don’t know why, but I have always loved see saw marjory daw…just a great cadence. I sing it to my daughter when I rock her, and she loves it too
It would have to be “5 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed” and “I’ve been working on the railroad.” Not sure these are lullabyes or nursery rhymes, but my daughter loves to sing these all the time!!
My favorite lullaby is Hush Little Baby. I sing it to my daughter every night but make up my own words half way through.
I would have to say Mary Had a Little Lamb! But our youngest is a big fan of Row Row Your Boat.
My favorite is Frere Jacques
I sing the ABC song as a lullaby to my girls.
Mary had a little lamb.
Itsy Bitsy Spider is a hit with the kids and with me!
