Growing Readers: Gallop! Giveaway
There are three types of learners:
Visual Learners (learn by reading, seeing)
Auditory Learners (learn by listening, speaking)
Kinesthetic Learners (learn by moving, doing and touching)A learning style is simply the way that your child approaches learning. Picture Books are an excellent way to develop your child’s learning style from the earliest age. Gallop!: A Scanimation Picture Book
![]()
by Rufus Butler Seder appeals to all three styles of learners. Scanimation is an amazing technology that literally makes the artwork move when you flip the page.
Simple prose (”Can you soar like an eagle? Whoosh-whoosh-glide”) combined with animated artwork make this book a must-have for your picture book collection. I can’t tell you who was more fascinated with this book…myself or my kids.
WIN IT! I was so excited when I discovered Gallop! that I contacted the publisher - any book that keeps my son occupied during an entire trip to Costco is worth publicizing! Workman Publishing graciously sent me one copy of Gallop! to giveaway. Enter by commenting with the name of your favorite picture book. The giveaway will end at 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 23rd. I will notify the winner via e-mail. Stay tuned this week for more giveaways.

Oooh, difficult decision. Although it’s uber popular, which is something I sometimes tend to stay away from, I’d have to stay Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown. The classic simplicity of the words and the rhymes make it easy for kids to listen to and repeat with mom or dad. The pictures, while simple, also change throughout the book if you look hard enough. The moon rises as the book (and the evening) progresses. The room gets darker. The animals move around. And I can ask my daughter to find things in the pictures that aren’t mentioned in the book, so that the book grows with her a little as she gets older. I think there’s a reason why everyone and their mother has this book!
