Travel Swap (Update)

In January I wrote about participating in a travel swap. I swapped with Madelene from California (visit her blog to see what she sent me). I have to agree with her sentiment that despite our differences in age, lifestyle and background we do have a lot in common. I enjoyed the creativity and thoughtfulness that she put into her package. Everything was very personal and therefore more appreciated.

I received an e-mail from Madelene (isn’t that a pretty name?) this morning saying that my package had finally arrived. The “rules” of the travel swap were to choose at least three objects that are favorite travel related items. I decided to theme my package around my trip to Northern Ireland last May.

2. Digestives/Tea/Maltesers (I looked for my favorite brand of chocolate, Galaxy, but could not find it being sold anywhere…unfortunately our stash of Galaxy is long gone. Those of you who have eaten a Galaxy milk chocolate bar know just how good and addictive this chocolate is. I bet your mouths are watering right now!)

3. Book – PS, I Love You by Cecilia Ahern (story set in Dublin)

4. Postage Stamp Trinket – I made this little trinket out of a real postage stamp. I set the stamp in glass and soldered the edges. It is actually a postage stamp from Kenya, not Ireland, but it depicts a woman picking tea leaves (tea leaves…how appropriate for Ireland) and I just thought the idea of an international postage stamp would be fun for the travel theme.

So there you have it.

That is really cool. I think it would be fun to do a swap with items from our respective locales. But any kind of swap is fun.

It would be fun to swap items of local interest. Not a bad idea.
