This week I discovered Very Short List. VSL is great if you are are hungry for cultural knowledge but short on time. VSL does the work of sending the information right to your computer in the form of a free daily e-mail. They promise “One Gem A Day (Movie, DVD, CD, Book, Web Video, Whatever) Five Days A Week.” If you want more you can browse their archives.
One particular book on their website caught my attention. It is called Not Quite What I Was Planning: Six-Word Memoirs by Writers Famous and Obscure by Larry Smith and Rachelfershleiser.

Not Quite What I Was Planning: Six-Word Memoirs by Writers Famous & Obscure collects almost 1,000 six-word memoirs, including additions from many celebrities including Stephen Colbert, Jane Goodall, Dave Eggers, and more.
Surprisingly addictive, Not Quite is both a moving peek at the minutia of humanity and the most literary toilet reading you’ll ever find. (Smith Magazine)
You can go here to submit your own six-word memoir and read what others have written. What six words tell your story?
