Snow Forts and Sno-fas

by Kristen McLane on February 10, 2008

113.jpgI have Detroit Public Television to thank for this project. During Christmas vacation Megan and Paul watched a PBS show instructing kids on how to build a snow fort. They were hooked on the idea. It just so happens that we have had a significant amount of snowfall this week so over the weekend we began creating our own version of the snow fort. It is a work in progress. As of today the fort has three rooms. Megan created snow pillows for her room and Paul insisted that his room be outfitted with a sno-fa.

Building the snow fort has been fun. We started on Friday after school and we continued today until lunchtime. I wouldn’t be surprised if it continues to evolve. I’m having as much fun as the kids (maybe more)!

That is so cool! My brothers built one on one of our trips to Colorado when we were kids – it was so much fun to crawl inside it! (Although a little scary – theirs was more like a tunnel, with a very low roof!)

Wow! My kids are going to go crazy with this idea, if we get the predicted snow tonight! Thanks for participating in the fun, and I’ll post your link at my site as soon as Mr. Linky stops being stinky. It’s him (blenza), not me. You can check back later–I hope people jump over to read your ideas from the comments or Mr. Linky, because this looks like a ton of fun.

My kids and a few neighbors started a fort but gave up after just a few layers of “bricks”. I’m glad your kids had much more fun!
