Today Megan’s classroom is celebrating 100′s Day (marking the first 100 days of school). I’m not sure where this practice started. I’d never heard of it until Megan started Kindgergarten last year. Is it a Michigan thing? I think it might be another excuse to pass out cupcakes.
Happy 100′s Day

My kids celebrated it in Kindergarten as well. I think its just a fun way to count up to 100.
And the cupcakes are definitely a bonus!
Personally, I think it is the teacher’s way of celebrating a year more than half way over!
We celebrate it here in Texas too. It was one of my favorite days when I taught kindergarten. Many of our kindergarteners think that the 100th day of school is the LAST day of school. Much to their dismay, they are still in kindergarten for another 87 days!
Yep – we lived in Texas, and participated in it there in Kindy and first grade – well, my kids did. I went through that same district, but, I don’t remember if we did that or not. These kids have zapped too many of my brain cells for me to remember that far back!
We live in Alabama now, but, with my kids being older, I haven’t noticed if they do it here or not. It was a fun day – our first grade teachers were awesome and made it really fun!!
