My kids have been dancing away to their new children’s album My Green Kite from folk rock singer Peter Himmelman. I first heard about this album when ZRecs reviewed it on their website last year. I was then fortunate to receive the album as part of a giveaway. I hadn’t heard of Peter Himmelman but it turns out he is an accomplished musician. He has recorded several albums for both adults and children. In fact, My Green Kite was nominated this year for a Grammy® award in the category of Best Musical Album For Children. (The award show is scheduled for February 10th.)
As is true with almost any album some songs are great and others are just so-so. Megan and Paul’s favorite song without a doubt is Feet. I have to agree. It is impossible to listen to Feet without dancing around the room. The music alone will put a smile on your face. My second favorite song is Watercolor Set. Another great band for kids is “Go Fish”. They have amazing talent and their album “Snazzy” is fun as well. Hannah and Caleb are working on wearing it out and its really geared toward younger children.

I’ve heard Go Fish. My sister and her kids love them. She was working on bringing them to do a concert at her church (in Canton) but I’m not sure what happened with that. I think there was a long waiting list for booking. I’ll let you know if I find out that they are coming.
Right now my kids are all about Hillsong Kids.
