What Is This?
I was browsing my Salvation Army thrift store this morning when I saw this curious looking beverage set. It’s a bargain for $25 if for nothing else than being a great conversation piece. I didn’t buy it but I’ll probably wish that I did. I took these pictures using my phone (sorry for the poor quality).
The set is obviously handcrafted. Each piece is engraved with a pretty floral design. I think it’s made out of brass. It is similar in style to handcrafted items I’ve seen from India. In fact, the style of engraving is very similar to a brass vase that I brought back from Nepal many years ago. What I found most interesting was that when I examined one of the lids I discovered that it was actually a bell. This makes me even more curious because now I wonder if the design has some kind of significance for a religious ritual. The carafe was also interesting. It unscrewed in two places. One part unscrewed for filling the carafe and the other part looked like a strainer but with larger holes (too large to allow loose tea through but small enough to keep out herbs?).
Can you can help me identify it’s origin or purpose?

I saw that too! I thought it was some sort of communion set. LOL. Maybe you should have bought it and taken it to the Antiques Road show. It could be worth some dough!~
