My Monday Morning Sob Story (Alternate Title - The Joy of Home Ownership)

18.jpgI woke up shortly after 4am this morning knowing that something wasn’t right. One minute I’d been snoozing away comfortably under the covers and the next minute I was wide awake and confused. In my sleep I thought I’d heard a loud bang. I couldn’t place the sound. Adam was awake on the couch (his medication having finally worn off). He had heard the noise too and thought it might have come from the basement. We went down to the basement and discovered that our furnace wasn’t working properly. Instead of heat it was blowing cold air. Not a good sign. We had no choice but to turn off the furnace and try to go back to sleep. I was thankful that today’s temperature was predicted to reach 40 degrees (a heat wave compared to last week which kicked off with a high of 15 degrees). Long story short, we were able to find a furnace repairman who arrived around 3pm. Two hours and large undisclosed amount of dollars later we have heat.

It’s cool to see all of the responses to your giveaway, but does no one care about what you have had to suffer?
I care and I’m sorry you had a cold day! :)

Now Adam has me curious…what’s the funny part of the story? :) And here I was complaining to Phil this morning that it was so COLD here. It’s supposed to be a high of 40 degrees after 70 degrees yesterday. Crazy Oklahoma weather!

  4. Barb Says:

OK Kristen, you have to tell the funny story.

I think that Adam is referring to how I freaked out over the noise. The furnace is in the basement right below our bedroom. The noise really scared me and I was so confused since I’d been asleep…it sounded enormous. My imagination ran wild - had there been a car accident, did a tree fall through the roof, did our garage finally collapse (our garage is leaning), etc? My dear husband is making fun of me because I was checking everywhere to figure out what happened. He had already been awake and had barely even heard any noise.

That’s the story. It was kind of cute how confused she was. My favorite was peering outside to see if the garage was still standing.
