Bare Walls

Adam and I bought our house in the fall of 2005. After renting for eight years I looked forward to having my own home to decorate. It has been three years and we have still not hung pictures. Ironically, one thing that made this house feel like a home when we first saw it was that the previous owners had family photos scattered throughout the house. I take full responsibility. Faced with the enormous task of sorting through photos I became overwhelmed and lost sight of the project. So the walls are bare.

17.jpgI believe I have finally decided on a photo that will become the main focal point of the living room. I took this picture in Northern Ireland in a small town called Downhill (the town is literally located at the bottom of a big hill). Adam and I stayed for three nights at the Downhill Hostel which overlooks the Downhill Beach. (Are you sensing a theme?) As it was May and not yet tourist season the beach was mostly deserted. I am a sucker for beaches regardless of whether or not it is warm. Or in this case, rainy. I was determined to go running on the beach so one morning while Adam was asleep I grabbed my running gear and camera and headed down to the sand. This is one of a series of photos that I took that morning. I love the haziness of the sun breaking through the fog. And the waterfall that wasn’t there the day before. This is the original photo. If I’m brave enough I’ll edit using the new Photoshop that Adam installed on family computer. It will be my project this week. Stay tuned for updates on the finished product.

What a gorgeous picture! The best thing about using pictures from vacations is that it will always take you back to that moment- every day! Look forward to hearing how it goes…

I love the picture…you’re quite the photographer. And about being in SC in Feb…it’s for Holly Beech’s wedding. Sue is renting a place in Folly Beech & Bobbie Kerber is coming up from GA. Katie Huff will be there too…a mini reunion of sorts.

    Oops…Folly Beach, not Beech. :)
