Looking for a good book?

by Kristen McLane on January 4, 2008

Looking to dive into a good book? I went on a reading frenzy in 2007. I wish that I had written down all the books that I’d read but since I didn’t, here are the ones that stand out in my memory.

Favorite Book of 2007
A Thousand Splendid Suns
, Khaled Hosseini

I’ve been aching for a good book, but our county library has been out of commission ever since the roof caved in after a wind storm. Now they can’t reopen it because there is asbestos from the old ceiling in all the books & who knows where else, so they are going to build a new one…someday, but no one knows when. That’s OK for ya! And I’m too cheap to buy them new…unless I join a book coop or something of that nature.

It might be fate so I will probably be reading this now since my sister told me today “I just read this book and you have to read it”. The title…A Thousand Splendid Suns

Don’t let the 384 pages turn you off…I started reading this one night after the kids went to bed and I couldn’t put it down. I read this before reading The Kite Runner and I have to say that I thought it was the better of the two books.

I LOVE reading books and my husband is relieved that I have started using the library more! Thanks for the recommendations. I just finished reading “The Goose Girl” by Shannon Hale. It was delightful and I loved her writing. I haven’t had a chance to check out more of her work. “TGG” came out in 2003, so I am guessing “Austenland” is more recent. I will have to get it!

Austenland must be fairly new because I found it in our “rapid reads” section of the libary (ie. new books). Usually when I like an author I look for other books they have written. I will have to look up the ones you mentioned.

P.S. Great to hear from you!
