Fitting Back Into Your Favorite Pair of Blue Jeans (WFMW)

My WFMW tip of the New Year is all about fitting back into your favorite pair of blue jeans. I’m not a huge fan of any particular diet but I do believe in the old fashioned adage of getting fit with a healthy balance of diet and exercise. Two other helpful ingredients for weight loss are accountability and keeping a progress record or weight loss journal.

There is no easy way to lose weight. If you are looking to make healthy body changes in 2008, then check out these websites:

MyPyramid.gov

home_image.gifAs the name suggests, MyPyramid.gov is all about promoting dietary health using the USDA food pyramid. There is loads of practical information but my favorite guide is MyPyramid Plan. Enter personal information (age, sex, weight, height and activity level) and receive a customized food guide. The food guide isn’t a menu plan. It shows you how much of each type of food you should eat per day to maintain your weight or to lose weight. You can also print a meal tracking worksheet to record what you are eating. It is a great visual to help you stick to your goals.

PEERtrainer.com

PEERtrainer is a free online accountability group. Join a small group (4 members or less) and use the daily log to keep track of meals, workouts and goals. You can join an existing group but personally I’ve benefited more from starting my own group and inviting other like-minded friends to join. I joined last year and I was part of a group of three. We went to church together and being friends helped when it came to saying the right words of encouragement. Our friendships were deeper after going through this experience together.

Hi! I left the comment above. I just wanted to stop back and say hi because I clicked on the link to your church and found out that you only live about 30 minutes from me. I also looked around your blog and I’m wondering….did you graduate from MBI? You look really familiar, and I know I didn’t really know you, but I graduated from there in 98.

Well, thanks again for sharing your tips. Have a great day!

Good tips. I think a lot of us are thinking of getting back into shape. I feel like a bear who has gotten ready to hibernate….

Eating healthier and exercising is how I have slimmed down and gotten into better shape. Amazing how what the doctors have been saying all along is what works.
