Hannah Montana Contest Brings Out The Worst In Mom/Daughter

This is sad. A mom in Texas helped her six year old daughter write an essay for a contest that would eventually win them tickets and airfare to a sold-out Hannah Montana concert in New York. The girl’s essay began with “my daddy died this year in Iraq.” It turns out the essay was a complete fabrication. Kudos to Club Libby Lu, the contest sponsor, for withdrawing the prize and awarding it to another another contestant.

“With this decision, we hope to revive the intended spirit of the contest, which was designed to make a little girl’s holidays extra special,” Club Libby Lu chief executive Mary Drolet said in a statement Saturday. (Associated Press Story)
