Kid Friendly Website: National Gallery of Art

by Kristen McLane on December 19, 2007

Tomorrow is my daughter’s last day of school before Christmas break. One thing I can be sure of is that my kids will spend most of their free time playing computer games. Over the next few days I will share a few of our favorite kid friendly websites. Here is the very best website I have found for kids to discover art. This site is run by the National Gallery of Art.

What I love about the NGA Kids Art Zone is that all the activities are interactive. You really have to go there to see for yourself. This is one of those websites where you (if you are an art lover like me) will want to take a turn at the computer. Here are just a few of the things you can do: “paint” a Still Life, explore a make-believe Dutch Dollhouse House, create an imaginary jungle landscape, create a digital collage, design a virtual mobile, design and texturize 3-D shapes, and build geometric sculptures.

And much, much more. Go now!
