Niagra Falls

A few weeks ago the family made a trip to visit relatives and we spent some time touring the Canadian side of Niagra Falls.  Many people were strolling along as we were, captivated by the natural beauty and magnitude of the falls.  One of my favorite experiences was a close-up (and very wet) tour of the falls from the water, aboard the Maid of the Mist.  As much as I enjoyed being a tourist, I couldn’t help thinking that the majority of people were just simply missing the point.  The falls screamed "God’s glory" to me.  I love the verse in Habbakuk that says, "The earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the seas."  The falls were not created so that merchants could get rich selling miniature water bottles filled with "authentic" Niagra Falls water (I’m not kidding!).  My prayer is that I will not worship created things but instead worship the Creator, whose glory is all around.
