Coon Creek Orchard

For the 3rd year in a row I met up with my sister on Tuesday to pick sweet cherries at Coon Creek Orchard in Armada, MI.  My sister, Gwen, drove up from Canton along with Jacob (8), Allison (6), Zachary (3) and baby Matthew (10 months).  After the kids got out their wiggles we headed to "the country" to what has become a favorite spot.  Coon Creek Orchard has a "middle of nowhere" feel to it.  It is picturesque with gently rolling hills and an abundance of fruit trees in various stages of growth.  When we arrived in the rows of cherry trees, the children rushed off to locate ladders.  Each one got a turn climbing the ladder and filling their bucket (except for the baby of course).  In total we collected about 10 lbs of cherries.  We all had reddish-purple fingers to show for it.  10 lbs sounds like a lot but it doesn’t last long in our households!  I love our annual adventure.  It is full of sweet memories for the children and I enjoy the quiet unhurried pace of the day.  I am already looking forward to next year.July_06_038

    Hi,

my name is Frank and I live in germany. I enjoyed reading your story about Coon Creek Orchard.

I was at Coon Creek Orchard in May 2006 visiting my old friends Terry and Delores Brown.

It´s a very nice place to be and i like to stay there.

It was a wonderful week in May with nice weather-conditions.

You have to take the kids there on the weekends, when they make donuts, hayrides, orchardtours and many more.

If you are there in the early morning you have the chance to see deers and rabbits.

I hope you will enjoy Coon Creek Orchard still for many years and I also will be back next year.
